Generally good, but already seeing a little damage

Good so far. Comfortable, supportive, good traction. I really like the larger toe-box. Unfortunately, after a day in the White Mountains the sole is starting to peel away from the shoe at the front. I'm going to Shoe Goo it, but I'm worried about the long-term durability.

I enjoyed my former pair of Oboz Sawtooth low hiking shoes for 4 years. I wear them often in many situations, including indoors, outdoors, and hiking. They are super shoes! I bought these a month ago. Walked/hiked in the Cotswolds in England through muddy fields, often complicated by unavoidable cow flaps and sheep dung. I stayed dry, comfortable, and stable in the extra wide version. These hiking shoes should last a long time - I don't expect to need another pair

These have great durability, comparable to their boots which is exactly what I wanted. I hope these last as long as their boots do as I have a pair of their Bridger winter boots that are going on 9-10years strong now!

For me the sawtooth has been a pleasant sturdy shoe for not only long walks and hikes outdoors but also at work where I'm indoors going up and down ladders. They seem to breathe well. This is my first Oboz and I'll keep this brand in mind for now on. This shoe is easy to get on and off which isn't usually the case for me since I've had reconstructive foot surgery.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

I've had issues for about three months. They are my second pair of oboz. The first pair was comfortable waterproof and I wore them for a good five years. So I didn't have a hard time paying $160 for these. The problem is they were almost immediately too hot. That continues to be the biggest problem with these shoes. I also find that they look bulky and not as handsome as others. They may be a good winter shoe, but I had hoped to wear them for at least three seasons. That won't work. Furthermore, they are not waterproof. I tried to contact the company directly immediately after I bought them. I bought them from a local store and I didn't want to take them back there. The manufacturer did not respond to my email. I guess I'm stuck with them. They're not horrible shoes don't get me wrong but I wish I had the chance to pick again. I will definitely pick something else. Maybe basque.

I ordered a size 12, and the label inside the shoe said 12, but when measured it turned out to be 11 1/2. Couldn't even get my orthotics in them. The shoes appear to be very well made though!

I enjoyed my former pair of Oboz Sawtooth low hiking shoes for 4 years. I wear them often in many situations, including indoors, outdoors, and hiking. They are super shoes! Since they are wearing out from use I'm looking for a replacement. Unfortunately this new Sawtooth X is a totally different fit. The shoe is shorter height-wise than the previous model, meaning that if I tie this tight enough to keep my heel from slipping in the back, the shoe is way way to tight on the top of my foot next to my leg. They accomplished this fit by removing about 1 inch of leather on each side right down the middle of the shoe where you tie it. That means the opening on top is much wider and it looks very different than before. I have a higher-than-average foot rise, so this will not be a problem for everyone, and the shoe may lace tighter for narrower feet. However everyone should be aware that this shoe fits nothing like the shoe it purports to replace. Length and width seem normal. Too bad there is not a height rating on the LLBean website - it's too short. Other things I noticed: If you plan to lace up the shoe the whole way to the top hole, the shoe laces are way too short. They need to be about 10 inches longer to tie comfortably. I could barely get these tied. Also the shoe laces are flat, not round like the original sawtooth. Also beware the shoe is more puffy than the original model. The sides puff out more than the prior model - the foam seems to be thicker in the material. If you don't like your shoes to look bulky you might not like this. Finally, they have removed the toe mesh which could make this shoe hotter. As I cannot test them due to fit, I won't know, just be aware. It's already a warm shoe compared to a sneaker. Overall, this looks like an old person's shoe much more than the prior model. I'm going to have to track down a Sawtooth II to replace my old shoes, the Sawtooth X is not an option.
